Have you ever felt out of place?

Today is Nneka’s first day at school in the United States. Like any student would be, she’s nervous and shy in a classroom full of strangers.

It’s not long before her classmates make her painfully aware of a subtle difference between her and them.

Nneka makes a decision that will change her forever.

About Nosarieme Garrick

Nosarieme a.k.a Nosa is the an award winning filmmaker. She created the successful documentary series My Africa Is that was winner of the Black Public Media's BPM 360 grant, an engagement grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as a Telly and Cindy award. The series is also featured in the Vitra Design Museum: Making Africa Exhibit, which has toured around the world. She produces television for the likes of CNN, Showtime, Viceland, the Travel Channel, and HBO. She was most recently accepted as a 2019 fellow of the IFP Episodic lab for the project Adventures from the Bedrooms of African Women.
